About Our Tradition and Founder

Cynthia Chow & Associates, LLC is a firm that provides dietetic and nutritional consulting and foodservice management to the healthcare industry. Today, Cynthia Chow & Associates, LLC is one of the largest of its kind in the United States.

Established in 1969 by the late Cynthia Chow, its founding mission was to “improve the health and lives of all people through customized nutrition interventions that combine dietetic standards of practice with current medical research.” Four decades later, Cynthia Chow & Associates, LLC remains steadfast in its efforts to enhance the quality of life for all of the people it serves by offering a variety of fresh and healthful menu options.

Cynthia ChowIn 1956, Cynthia Chow immigrated to the United States from Shanghai, China to attend the University of Illinois. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Foods and Nutrition. After graduation, Cynthia completed her internship at a Boston hospital and began her career as a dietitian in a hospital in Chicago. These experiences inspired Cynthia Chow and deepened her understanding of the importance of food and menu selection in the overall health and well being of patients. Cynthia Chow understood that food was more than just nourishment for patients and residents; food was life.

Cynthia Chow distinguished herself by becoming the first woman to earn a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Loyola University of Chicago. She utilized her business acumen to help others by developing the visionary management skills that mark the Cynthia Chow & Associates’ tradition of excellence today.

Cynthia Chow worked diligently to provide a “positive, caring work environment both mentally and professionally challenging to her associates.” Cynthia Chow passed away in April of 2001, leaving a legacy of integrity, compassion and commitment that has become the hallmark of Cynthia Chow & Associates, LLC. She is greatly missed by her loving family, friends and business associates. Her colleagues respected and admired her but, above all, were inspired by her unbreakable spirit.
